Why you need to donate clothes
Donating your clothing items to charity not only helps the environment by reducing waste, but it also aids wonderful causes.
1. It keeps them from reaching landfills.
Have you ever wondered what happens when you discard your clothing? All the fashion waste is dumped into landfills by truckload. By donating garments, you may prevent them from becoming garbage and ending up in landfills, where they will take years to decompose and pollute the air and soil.
2. It helps people in need
Many people including children and families are in desperate need of suitable clothing. Your donations can aid disaster victims, poor individuals, and children who are in need of clothes to wear. Even if you no longer want your old clothes, it's almost guaranteed that someone else does! When you toss your garments away, they have little chance of reaching individuals who might need them.

What you should donate and what you should not donate
1. When it comes to clothing donations, they must be gently used (or new), clean and not damaged.
2. You should always wash clothes before donating them. If donated clothing is not laundered, it may need to be disposed of.

4. You should only consider donating items that are new or gently worn. It's time to reuse, recycle, or discard your old favorite clothing if it has a hole in it. Clothing that is ripped, torn, damp, dirty, or stained should not be donated and instead repurposed.
5. You should not donate if your clothes have a weird smell.
When is it the right time for you to donate?
The reality is that donating unwanted clothing and items is a terrific idea at any time! But if it’s getting overwhelming for you then ask yourself these questions:
- Is anything collecting dust in your closet or at the bottom of your drawer? If yes then it’s time to pass it down to someone else.
- Are your clothes too small or tight for you now? If you answered yes then it’s time for you to consider donating clothes and items you don’t wear anymore.
- Are you no longer going through “that phase” that you bought those items in? Again In a yes? You definitely need to get rid of anything that doesn't fit your style anymore.
How and where can you donate?
- If you're scared that clearing out seems like too much labour, then don't be! Simply maintain a bag in your closet and throw it any stuff that you no longer require. Drop it off at your local charity shop when it's full.
- If you’re afraid to include high-end items, then again my friend, don’t be. Many donation centers will take those items aside for special programs and charities that help people in need look sharp for a job interview or for their special days too!
- The best part about donation is that you can choose which charity you want to give that item to. Check which charity supports which cause. It’ll be a no-brainer when you have a cause that's important to your heart!
