Is Cellulite Actually As Evil As We Portray It To Be?

Many of us have been concerned and insecure about cellulite at least once in our lives. It makes us feel uncomfortable in our skin. Some of us are scared of wearing clothes that might reveal cellulite buildup whereas some are worried about developing them. But is it as bad as people portray it?

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Cellulite, also known as orange peel skin, is a subcutaneous fat build-up under our skin. It consists of fat, waste materials, and excessive fluids made by our bodies. This cluster blows up under our skin and eventually turns into dimple-like structures known as Cellulite. They are commonly situated around the legs, belly, arms, and butt as these parts of the body tend to store more fat comparatively to others as low blood pressure makes it difficult to move away from the excessive fat.

Here is some common myths about cellulite -

“CELLULITE IS UNCOMMON”

The unrealistic beauty standards have convinced us that some people have perfectly slim, well-maintained, perfect bodies and do not have flaws like cellulite buildup, which isn't accurate. Cellulite is fairly common and it doesn't discriminate.

We are still treading softly around arguments addressing the inclusivity of attributes like cellulite. Unrealistic beauty standards make it hard for people to feel comfortable in their skin. The need to speak up about the disparity such standard creates has become very important.

“CELLULITE MAKES YOUR BODY UNHEALTHY”

Since cellulite is an assortment of toxins, unwanted fat, and fluids, one of the most common misconceptions is that such build-up inside our body can be unhealthy. But it's not true. People of every age, shape, and size have cellulite. Some may have it less than others but that's purely due to variations in body types and composition. Hence, even a fit person can have a certain amount of cellulite present in their body.

“EXERCISING, MEDICATION, AND HEALTHY EATING HELP IN REDUCING CELLULITE BUILDUP”

Although exercising can help one reduce cellulite buildup along with other improvements, it doesn't promise complete detoxing. Although the internet assures a lot of solutions for "removing cellulite" it's important to keep our goals realistic. Cellulite building is a natural process and one can see some changes with exercising but it's important to stay pragmatic.

If you are looking for some safe treatments, over-the-counter creams and lotions: that contain ingredients like caffeine, retinol, or collagen can temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite. Regularly massaging the affected areas may improve blood flow and temporarily reduce cellulite visibility.

Lack of body confidence will always hold us back. It's essential to overcome such challenges and embrace practical goals. Cellulite buildup will be there regardless of how fit or unfit you are. What's more important is to face the good aspects of yourself. You are beautiful just the way you are.

Here are some self-love preach to overcome the obstacles such misconceptions create-

1. Practice being grateful for your body. Recognize that your body is deserving. deserving of affection. worthy of self-kindness. Do not let society's artificial body standards cause you to feel less appreciative of your lovely physique.

2. Be aware of your difficulties. Make sure to recognize and address your difficulties. Use uplifting affirmations, avoid having self-conscious thoughts about your appearance, and have a positive mindset.

3. Celebrate Diversity and acknowledge that beauty is a spectrum and not a single entity. Respect others and value the unique qualities that set each person apart from the rest.
