Qualities that make up your personality are inner qualities. Qualities such intelligence, understanding, kindness, generosity, sense of humor, honesty, loyalty etc. All these qualities are much more important that outer beauty. They make you a good person. Recognizing these inner qualities is essential. 

They improve your quality of life. 

Being kind and understanding is very important to sustain relationships and gain new ones. They will help you have deeper and meaningful connections. The way you perceive the world decides what kind of life you will live. An important inner quality is the way you look at people and how you treat them. Being understanding comes in handy while handling tough situations in life.

They make you attractive. 

If you think only looking a certain way and fitting into some beauty standards make you attractive; well that’s not true. There are a lot of inner qualities about you that others find attractive. And I’m sure there are some about others that you find attractive. For instance, a sense of humor. Being funny, witty and silly is such a desirable quality in a person. You will always be drawn to a person who makes you laugh. Qualities such as creativity are also valuable. If a person is artistic and passionate; you will instantly find them interesting. 

Inner qualities are consistent throughout life.

Over the course of your life, both your appearance and your body will change. There may be aspects of yourself that you grow to dislike. But your inner qualities will never change. They will be there with you forever and will continue to improve your life. So, try not to let your thoughts be consumed by the worry of how you look. There are qualities that are much more important and matter more. 

Here are some things you can do to recognize your inner qualities-

  1. Make an effort to notice the good things you do each day. Identify your strengths.
  2. Try a variety of new experiences. The more you experience, the more you learn about yourself.
  3. Look back at the things you were good at, or passionate about as a child. Also pay attention to your current passions and interests
  4. Ask someone you trust. Ask a trusted friend or family member about your qualities. They will probably see things you don’t. 
  5. Recognize that your inner qualities can evolve and develop over time
